Dayara Bugyal travel tips

As you know already that the trek to Dayara Bugyal is quite an easy one, but it is still good to prepare yourself for the trek. Running, cycling or swimming can all improve cardiovascular endurance.

It Is very much advisable for you to have an experienced guide along with your journey. He knows all those routes will help you get off the course easily.

Trekking alone, especially if you are inexperienced, can be very risky. So, make sure to tell someone at home about the trip.

Stay at Dayara Bugyal

With an altitude of 3,000 meters, this  Dayara Bugyal offers you a unique view of the snow-covered Himalayas. And as it is a tourist destination, you won’t find any hotels or guesthouses available. Thus, you have to carry tents and sleeping bags with you. Barsu village is the last village before you start the trek and therefore it is also considered to be the base camp of this trek.

Dayara Bugyal: Trekking itinerary

Day 01: Dehradun – Uttarkashi – Barsu – Barnala Tal (Drive – 185 km | Trekking – 4 km)

A 5-6 hour drive via the Mussoorie bypass with some scenic views is a perfect experience. As you move towards Chilianisaur, you will come across this massive Tehri Dam lake. And from here it will take another hour and a half to reach Barsu. If you depart early from Dehradun then that means you can most likely start your trekking from 1:00 PM after lunch. Barsu to Barnala Tal is a very short and easy one of just a 4km hike with some minimal elevation gain. It won’t take more than 3 hours to reach Barnala grasslands from Bars. The first kilometer and a half is a well-marked trail. There is also a good campsite at Barnala grassland, which is just a few hundred meters before Barnala Tal.

Barnala Tal-Dayara Bugyal for Day 2 (Trek – 4 km)

Dayara Bugyal is located around 5 km away from Barnala Tal and shepherds’ huts in Dayara Bugyal are only one kilometer away before the actual Bugyal camp starts that is near those shepherds’ huts you are going there in winter and top most sections of Dayara Bugyal are covered by 2-3 feet snow. 

Day 03: Dayara Bugyal – Bakaria Top (Trek – 4 km)

This day is the most beautiful day of this trek. As you go further and explore the beauty of Dayara Bugyal, you will be surprised by how the entire area of Dayara Bugyal looks different from every angle. You just need to follow the steep climb and you’ll reach the Bakaria Top (3810m). If you wish to see the beautiful sunset from Bakaria Top, then you need to take a packed lunch with you when you are trekking towards Bakaria Top.

Day 04: Dayara Bugyal – Barnala Tal (Trek – 8 km )

You don’t want to miss the breathtakingly beautiful sunrise at Dayara Bugyal. It’s time to say goodbye to the Himalayan range and you can start going back to Bars via Barnala Tal. You will reach the village of Barsu in almost 3 hours. And if you want to go to Dehradun on this day, then you need to leave early.
